There’s nothing like the beginning of spring to inspire a refresh at home. And today, we’re focusing our attention on the bedroom. Although it’s arguably one of the most personal rooms in your home, the bedroom tends to be the most overlooked in terms of decor. It makes sense if you think about it…unlike the dining or living room where we spend the majority of our time entertaining or relaxing with friends and family, the bedroom isn’t a place that the rest of the world sees. But just because it’s not put on display doesn’t mean it’s not equally as important, right? It is, after all meant to serve as that one place where you can go to seek refuge after a long, hectic day. If you’re guilty of not giving your bedroom enough TLC, don’t fret. With just a few quick and simple updates, you can reenergize your bedroom and transform it into a relaxing retreat in no time!
1. Clear the Clutter
First and foremost toss anything you don’t want, don’t need and don’t like—especially the little things. Then, get organized with stylish storage solutions. Chic coat racks or hooks are a great way to keep bags, hats or your go-to jacket organized and easily accessible while a modern tray or little decorative box helps to corral smaller items. You can never go wrong with stylish storage boxes too, which can serve as a home for a number of items like pillows, blankets, books, etc.
2. Change up Your Lighting
The right light has the power to completely transform your room. Consider switching out table lamps for hanging pendant lights or adding a statement chandelier over your bed to create a stunning focal point like our Zeppelin ceiling lamp pictured above. Lights with a dimmer effect are also a great way to add some extra
3. Dress Up Your Walls
A fresh coat of paint can go a long way in re-energizing your space. Consider giving your walls a new look with a muted-neutral color or create an accent wall with a bold color for a quick fix. For something a little more impressive, consider adding a wall covering with eye-catching patterns or textures.
4. Swap Out Wintery Throws and Pillows
Switch out heavy sheets, faux fur blankets and pillow covers for a lighter alternative like linen or cotton, which will keep keep you cool all spring and summer long. Consider a bright color or playful pattern to further enhance your decor or keep it simple with neutrals for a more classic look.
5. Bring the Outdoors In
Enliven your bedroom by bringing in fresh plants and flowers. A beautiful vase with a simple stem can instantly add color and a pleasing scent to your bedside while succulents or a modern planter filled with fresh greenery add height to your space plus help to filter the air and increase oxygen.
6. Hang Some Art
Embrace the spirit of spring with nature-inspired artwork. Try bright colors, floral designs, beachy landscapes and so forth. If you have a large wall, consider hanging a gallery wall or series as pictured above. For expert tips and layout ideas, check out our Gallery Walls 101 post. Modern wall sculptures are also a fantastic option that’s somewhat unexpected and gives your walls more of a 3-dimensional effect.
7. Roll Out a New Rug
A rug is a great way to add a touch of color, texture or pattern to your bedroom plus it provides a soft-landing for morning feet.
8. Add an Accent Piece
Turn an unused corner into a cozy reading nook with a comfortable and chic armchair or consider placing a bench at the foot of your bed. Both practical and stylish, a bench provides a place to sit as you get dressed plus extra surface area for laying out tomorrow’s outfit.
