A dramatic drop-down ceiling tiled with large, reflective white porcelain sheets and a 20-foot wall of white high-gloss lacquer are just a few of the many standout features that make this sleek and elegant kitchen the crowning glory in a Texas lake house.
Randy and Mena Whaley’s lake home reads contemporary, inviting and sophisticated and the feeling extends into their chef-worthy kitchen with the help of kitchen design specialist Eugenio Reyes-Retana. From shimmering glass and chrome fixtures that illuminate the waterfall white-quartz-topped island to the dramatic drop down ceiling that hangs some 20 feet below the formal ceiling, Eugenio assisted with every detail to ensure that the Whaley’s dream of a museum-quality kitchen became a reality.
By utilizing uniquely sized drawers around the island, Eugenio was able to hide plates, bowls, silverware, and trash bins. Sleek and elegant Aster Cucine cabinetry was installed for a completely seamless look – every appliance, including the oven, fridge, refrigerator, and a pull-out stainless-steel worktop, was tucked behind nine-foot, white high-gloss lacquer doors that are able to fold and slide seamlessly.
The cabinetry, all handcrafted in Italy, creates a stunning effect of simplicity. The adjoining wall holds 9-foot, high-gloss cabinets with a trio of symmetrically inset Miele appliances, which keep the look clean and consistent.
Randy’s goal of creating “a wall of art in the kitchen” became a reality with the help of Eugenio, who helped design a kitchen that the Whaleys will treasure for years to come.
In addition to helping the Whaleys create their dream kitchen, the couple also tapped Cantoni designer Nicole George for their interiors and finish out. Check out the full home tour here.
“Eugenio made things easy. If we didn’t love something, he didn’t try to convince us his choice was right, but rather, worked to better understand what we were looking for and sourced alternate ideas.”
